Do you hear the people sing?

Firstly, our final day in Budapest was the best weather!  Did you know it's summer here?
A spot of shopping (Andrew's credit card!!) and then off to the Castle. Prague Castle is the largest in the world and is on the top of a hill - so we got the tram up!
Visited St Vitus' Cathedral - not sure who he was but Good King Wenceslas is buried in there!  Young guys who walked in behind us - "This building is unreal!  Did they live here or is it a church?"  The roof did not fall in!
After a few more interesting sights we walked down the hill!
Charles Bridge

Oh Paris!  We arrived on Bastille Day!!!  After running smack bang into a Laduree shop when we got off the plane (there was a Nespresso shop next door) we thought we should stop by!

Our hotel is in a great spot for walking everywhere so the Camino continues. After some valuable time at the laverie we went for a leisurely stroll for the next six hours!!  Paris was very busy - boats, buses, cars, pedestrians everywhere!  There was a free concert at the Eiffel Tower followed by fireworks for Bastille Day. While we made a quick decision to skip the concert we weren't going to miss the fireworks!! Which didn't start until it got dark - AT 11PM!!!

What else have we done?
  • Walking
  • Musee de Orsay - saw the blue ballerinas Evie!!!
  • A Saturday afternoon in the Tuilleres Gardens

  • Ferris wheel at the fair in the Tiulleres
  • A visit to the Louvre (another one for your fridge Irene!)

Off on a Battlefields Tour tomorrow- bright and early!!

  1. Andrew's Version: found the hobbits again - French version on the subway into Paris
Was another never-will-I-forget-it bucket list to walk down the champs élysées on Bastille Day with tricolours flowing - if I had hair it would have stood on end "the blood of the martyrs will water the meadows of France .. do you hear the people sing singing the song of angry men ..." while you finish singing I'll keep going with the blog
Second ferris wheel in a week (I hate Ferris wheels - somewhere in my dreams the wheel disconnects and runs away down the hill) I hope Jo-Anne appreciates my devotion.
Fireworks on Eiffel Tower was a grand affair.
Last night we went to a restaurant promising live music and wine. Sign out the front had wine and a trumpet. Live music? One table sang happy birthday!? Dudded. Will never trust the French again. All French are liars. Do you hear the people sing singing the song of angry men
Jo-Anne is trying to get me off the iPad by feigning starvation
MMM - another gallery today - nudity everywhere - I think that's why Jo-Anne likes galleries - pornography for toffy people - had to walk through most of it with my eyes closed
Oh went to Mass - Jo-Anne made me - have no idea what language it was in - not French and we didn't think it was Latin but maybe
Shopping with Andrew's credit card - Andrew WILL be able to claim starvation

  3. I saw Bastille Day celebration on the news and was keenly keeping my eye out for the two of you. All I saw was a very inappropriate American making a twat of himself! Very French. Thank goodness the art galleries are hands off places, that could have been very awkward! Ready for the next report. Enjoy, weather has turned to crap here, missing nothing!

  4. Cant believe jo-anne booked us in hobbit class on the train - more mocassins than jetstar - "so tell me is it still raining there in england?" just out of the chunnel and yes it is - started this blog the 1st time while under the sea - nothing to see out the window - but the wifi died so lost everything - feeling decidedly less excited about writing this the 2nd time
Went to Rodin gallery yesterday - our artist friend Ina Mar gave us free tickets - thats why we belong in beautiful people class on trains! We did while away the hours pre train with the beautiful people then had to do tge walk of shame past an array of tracky pants to carriage 12 - didnt know train fashion went that low - leonardo has declared there are very few rats - was a mouse to greet usin the doorway of our restaurant for dinner last night - GROSS!!
Rodin - funny how such a brilliant sculptor didnt know how to sculpt clothes - just sayin
After Rodin jo-anne made me go on a river cruise - i hate boats - somewhere in my dreams the ferris wheel rolls down the hill and into the river quite sinking the passing ferry - me? I am down in the gizzards peeing into a bucket - by the time peeing finishes the fish are coming in the portholes and... Well i hope jo appreciates the devotion - we went on a river cruise

  5. You know what was lovely (nana word) about today? After 3 weeks nearly it was nice to go into a pub and have a proper counter meal with vegetables. The beer beef pie with mashed potato and gravy and vegetables was fairly ordinary but gee it was nice to have something familiar
