Today we chased Pablo Picasso and Antoni Gaudi all over Barcelona - or it felt like it after we walked and walked and walked ...
Once we located the Museu Picasso we found it astounding how a fourteen year old can paint this...
and the same person paint this when he is in his 70s...
Both have artistic merit but are still poles apart!
After our very Spanish lunch (bread roll, jamon and cheese) in the beautiful Park de la Ciutadella we headed to La Pedrera, another Gaudi masterpiece. This guy is the favourite son of Barcelona and must rake in the money if the lines at each of his creations is a guide. We have decided that Gaudi doesn't like straight lines, normal rooftops or boring staircases. One of his lecturers commented that the University wasn't sure whether they were graduating 'a genius or a lunatic'! This is our third Gaudi experience in three days and we think he might have just been a genius!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Jo, enjoy your day Spanish style! You have defiantly had your Gaudi 'fix', he is amazing, who would think to build structures like he has, way back then!! Looks like alzeihmers had set in with the difference between the art work, ha,ha! Have a fab day, CHEERS to you! Jenni K
ReplyDeleteHi Jo. It looks like you are having a fantastic time...those buildings are amazing! Hope you have a very happy birthday today. Enjoy! Cheers, Tania x
ReplyDeleteA huge happy birthday Bondy! We hope you have a great day, it's your choice for everything today! Collette take note! Lol. Like that doesn't happen normally! Lol. We hope you have a very special day and I'm sure it will be one to remember. Your birthday twin is full up with the cold courtesy of Oscar, we are however blaming him for bringing it home to us! I'm sure we will still venture out for a b,day tea.
ReplyDeleteLoving your pictures. Gaudi is amazing and I didn't realize that Picasso painted some conventional stuff. Have to make sure you go to the Musee d'Orsay in Paris, some amazing art in there. We probably enjoyed it more than the louvre. Have a fantastic day! Love Joel, Joel and Oscar xxxxxx
hello. I'm going to wish you a happy birthday tomorrow because it's still yesterday. What I'd like to comment on today is your insightful (inciteful?) artists' review of the Museo Picasso - Picasso's paintings "have artistic merit" - Now don't spew forth superlatives too early in the junket and leave yourselves with nowhere to go when you get to the good stuff. Last night when I came home there was a mouse climbing up my security door - gross - so I had to man up and use a different door. As I write this there's a bright red parrot (with considerable artistic merit he says reaching in vain for a superlative) out the window on my verandah. Truly one of God's masterpieces. Hope it eats the mouse. Am I the only skeptic who wonders if you've both only gone to Frankston? They have art and architecture in Frankston - GIVE US SOME EVIDENCE THAT JO AND COLLETTE ARE REALLY IN SPAIN. I don't want to see another photo of phallic chimneys tomorrow. I want to see proof that you're in Spain. This could turn into a viewer driven holiday. We could all blog-in our physical challenges for tomorrow and send you all over Spain taking photos of what we want to see - Collette - how about the INSIDE of Quattro Ventis seeing you've never been there. Sorry. Won't mention the war again. Tomorrow - photo of the Bond girls please or I'm going to Frankston to look for you.
ReplyDeleteI must say I agree with Andrew. Def photos of you girls is what we want. I also would have used a different door Andrew as they terrify me! And yes those chimneys do look like giant penises! I thought that the moment I saw the photo, but thought I had better be polite. However, Andrew has now opened the flood gates - cant wait for the next installment!
ReplyDeleteis this boy Joel or Girl Joel?
DeleteGirl writing, but boy shares his b,day with Jo!

ReplyDeleteI'm in!! I am finally able to comment - apparently you have to use a real computer as it clearly won't work on an iphone or ipad!! I was worried because I knew that you two would be missing me - sorry I don't have any photos to share of my travels. However, according to Andrew's theory, I could be sitting here in Mitcham posting photos from anywhere in the world. Andrew, I did see them pass through the doors at customs!
ReplyDeleteHey Jo-Anne - 'feliz cumpleanos' to you. Tricia says 'feliz cumpleanos' too! I might even have a celebratory drink for you! Enjoy your last day in Spain! Look forward to seeing photos of you two before you leave the country.
Alisha
maybe they're stuck in customs like Tom Hanks. SHOW US A PHOTO!!
DeleteTime for the old aunt to become involved. Tend to agree with Andrew. You could be at the national gallery for all we know!!! Felix cumpleanos Jo Anne
ReplyDeleteMore fun talking to the "stay at homes" I reckon - which old aunt is it? The favourite one or the other one??
ReplyDeletenow it's really your birthday - Jo-Anne, I hope this is your best birthday EVER!! Hope Collette has organised the pampering, I'm thinking spa treatment, massage, champagne ... come on Collette - what did you come up with?
