As we couldn't get a train reservation until 7pm we had another day in Lyon. Our first stop was a coffee enjoyed in a quaint little square we found earlier in our stay.
What a great place to hang out on a sunny morning/afternoon (we did both!)
Our second stop was the SCNF Boutique (where you can book your train seats). Unfortunately, like a lot of other shops, it was closed on Monday! We did manage to find a few other shops open for a wander - one was the equivalent of Myer but nowhere near as big!
We found another park to hang out in (everyone does it!) which just happened to be near the Catholic University. Another time our Catholic card could have come in handy - not sure for what but you never know!
We grabbed some lunch and headed towards Col's new favourite patisserie (from the photos on Saturday) which also had Monday-itis!! Bugger! It ruined her day!
Another hour and a half was spent on the Lyon City Boat enjoying the sights of the Saone and Rhone Rivers. Lots of modern developments along the rivers which are quite funky!
Swiss cheese buildings - although I don't think I'd eat cheese this colour!
Currently we are on the TGV (European for bloody fast train) enjoying the green French countryside and getting closer to Paris with each minute!!!
See you there!
Other photos from our trip to Lyon we thought you might like!
Col hanging outside our joint...
On our street...
Next to our Palace!!! Yes - this is Palais Bondy - welcome home!
Moving on from churches to holy buildings??? I think they look like a cross between lego and those ballistic tests where you see how far the bullet will penetrate into the crash dummy. Got to thinking when you get to London (or is that not giving enough respect to Paris and the Gauls in general) you need to put Bond St and Bond St Station on your must do. Lovely photo of Collette and the town bikes. Did you go into the Brasserie and have a bevy? Song for the day - anything Tina Arena. Me? I hear you ask - hospital board meeting this morning is the next thing - world news - sad they blew up the Boston marathon near the finish line - wouldn't that annoy you after 4 hours of running and then they don't let you finish - could have blown them up at the start!!
ReplyDeletesong for tomorrow - Sweet Caroline - they sing it at every home game of the Boston Red Sox - might all sing it tomorrow to remember them?
