Day 2 of our Hop On Hop Off bus tickets took us on the green route along the port side of Barcelona. Not a great day for the beach so we stayed on the bus which took us to La Sagrada Familia - the minor basilica of the Holy Family. This amazing structure is another building designed by the famous Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi.

Gaudi was an unknown whipper snapper (aged 31) when he landed the job of continuing the design process of the building which was his life's passion and work until 43 years later when he was hit by a tram and killed! The basilica was dedicated in 2010 by Pope Benedict XVI and they are hoping it will be completed in another 20 or so years! Now that we are contributors to the building project we are expecting an invite to the house warming once it is finished!

We have come up with the idea of a Catholic card that would allow us free access to any church in Europe. We also have a theory that if you visit a church on a Sunday they don't charge!!

ReplyDeleteRain, rain and more rain here, missing nothing! Little Oscar is miserable with a cold, running nose, bad cough, poor little fella. He's enjoying your posts though. Agree about the church card, up there for thinking. Make sure you keep a tally of churches, museums, buses, and beers! Lots of different countries, lots of different beers to taste!

Rhiannon worked this out for me, didn't want to 'sign in' that's why I'm anonymous. On each post you will see either 'no comments' or 'x number of comments', click on this, this brings up a space to write your comment. Write what you want then put my name at the end, otherwise you won't know who it's from. Where it says 'Comment as', 'Select profile' click 'anonymous' then click publish.
