We were up bright and early this morning to catch the slowest old rattler train ever from Krakow to Katowice (not exaggerating! We reckon Poland isn't covered by our EU Rail pass as its trains and railways are too dodgy!) and from there on to Prague. A loooooong day on the trains!
Our hotel is on Wenceslas Square - yes THE Wenceslas! (Jo-Anne won't let me sing the song in public!) Our evening stroll took us to the Old Square where we had dinner...
...and then on to check out some of the local attractions which we will explore over the next couple of days.

Oooooh Prague! Beautiful! We to took the train to Prague from krakow. We took the night train, stinking hot, we were in a sleeping cabin, feet hanging out of the window trying to keep cool! Lucky we didn't die really!
ReplyDeleteOu have to have to have to have a hot chocolate in Prague! It's that thick your spoon stands up in it and a variety of different flavours. Oh yum, mouth salivating just thinking about it!
I bought a stringed puppet at Prague that is hanging in Oscars room. It's a sheep like the one from the sound of music movie. I love it! Beautiful art, architecture and we stayed next to a brewery! Cheap cheap beer in Prague!
Oh we loved Prague! The view from the top of the church spire on top of the hill is great! Climbing the hill to get to Prague castle almost did me in! It was about 40 the day we went. Then Joel wanted to climb the spire. I armed him with the camera and told him to go for it! By that stage of our European holiday I'd had a gut full of stairs! And it was tooooo bloody hot! He struggled, but took some great shots!
Well get those cheap beers into you. I hope you have been sampling them in each country! We also found an artist JS who we fell in love with and should have purchased a painting, we were so close and have kicked ourselves ever since! We have even tried bu its too hard from here as they don't have the euro! Enjoy enjoy enjoy!
Take care Joel, Joel and Oscar! Xxxxx
Girl Joel, thanks for reminding me about Prague.
ReplyDeleteI didn't go to Prague by train. Couldn't figure out how to do it, from Dresden to Prague. So hitched a ride on a school bus.
Watched the afl grand final when Hawthorn beat Geelong in the "Fat Boy's Bar" in Prague. Left our hotel at 4am, walking along cobble stoned streets in the dark (very Dickensian) arrived at the Bar at 5am ready for 6am game.
Never felt so proud to be in a bar full of drunken Aussies singing the national anthem like they liked it. Then playing kick-to-kick at half time out on the street at 7.30am. Guy stood up on the seat at half time "Bit of shoosh!" Could have been in any footy shed in Australia. Was raffling a sherrin as fund raiser for the Prague Lions Football team.
Had to be there. Was just great.
