All on my own!

Yes - there are plenty of songs in the events of today. But in a nutshell, I had to explore the sights of Como on my own because Collette inconveniently decided to get a bout of gastro!!! As long as she doesn't share we should be ok!

So, how was my day you ask?

Jumped on the HOHO bus, on my own, and did the full circuit without getting off. There wasn't really much to get off to see because the Lake is basically the draw card and we'll leave exploring it until full health has been restored! There are some beautiful villas everywhere you look so we thought we might purchase one and move here. It could supplement our apartments in Paris and Barcelona.

Hotel right on the water.

The old walls of the city surround Como on three sides and was built centuries ago to keep the Milanese out!!

When I got off the HOHO bus I went for a wander and decided to check out the Cathedral. Just happened to be mass in progress which was being celebrated by the Bishop along with nine priests. From harassing one of the organisers afterwards I worked out that it was a mass which was part of a Diocesan church group for children. Felt like Catholic Education Week!!

The altar of the Cathedral.

After checking on the sickie wandered some more and sat with a coffee!

Also discovered that Alessandro Volta (inventor of the battery) was from Como! They have a statue, a Piazza and a monument dedicated to him.

Hopefully the Lake for tomorrow!

  1. Get better quickly Col. Can't have Jo Anne having all the fun especially on that hoho bus. Some of those old buildings are really beautiful. We think some of our buildings are old but they are only babies. Wonder if they will last as long as the European ones. Cheers FOA
